Prepare for a Computer
crash
Resolving Error 1305
To connect a wireless Windows XP Laptop to your
Verizon FiOS internet, do the following:
-
Copy the WEP
key on your FiOS router on a piece of paper. In my case, I
have an Actiontec router with a 10 digit key made up of
numbers and letters.
-
Also copy
the ESSID on the router.
-
Insert your
wireless internet card into your Laptop.
-
Click on
Start | Connect to | Wireless Network Connection.
-
A list of
wireless networks near you will be displayed. Look for the
network name that matches the ESSID you copied in step 2 and click
on it.
-
Click on the
Connect button.
-
Enter the
WEP key you copied in step 1 (you may be asked to enter it
a second time).
-
Click on
Connect.
-
Voila! You
are now connected to the internet wirelessly.
You don't have
to perform these steps each time you turn on your Laptop since
you will be connected permanently to the internet. To
disconnect, select your ESSID on the network list and click
"Disconnect".
