The
Nigerian Customs have a formula for calculating the cost of
clearing a vehicle. This formula takes into consideration the
age and size of the vehicle and other factors. The newer the
vehicle, the more expensive. For instance, a 2008 Honda Accord
will cost more to clear than a 2005 model.
Clearing a
car from the Nigerian Ports can be quite stressful. It is
adviceable to secure the services of a competent clearing
agent. In fact what you pay to clear your car at the Port
will depend largely on the experience and negotiating skills
of your agent. A good agent can save you N20,000 to N50,000 in
clearing costs. Below are the cars we have cleared from Lagos
in the past few months and the costs. Your agent might charge
more or less.
